Long time Los Angeles resident, Senator Andy Uba who now chairs the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Wednesday, December 12, 2012, ruled out the long going debate on whether Diaspora Nigerians should be eligible to vote in the nations electoral process. Uba cancelled the idea on the grounds that a legal framework was "not worked out," and that information on Nigerians living in any particular country cannot be "obtained from any of the Nigerian embassies." Uba announced the cancellation during the Fourth Quarter Lecture of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.
