Nigerian Technocrats and Environmental Team Comes To Los Angeles

The Nigerian Chamber of Commerce (NICOCUSA) and OJI Environmental Services will be hosting an international trade and investment opportunities about Nigeria trade deveolopments with the global community on a variety of issues relating to commerce and industry, at the Premium Hosted Bar, Tanzare, Beverly Hills, on Friday, December 4, 2009; and has among others, a list of dignatries from around the United States and the globe in general.

The ocassion will be accompanied by the exclusive engagement of guest speakers from Nigeria to tailor varieties of business opportunities between Nigeria Diaspora and United Nation's concern on environmental strategies to provide the possibiilities of the Green Movement in conjunction with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in the area of projects necessary to Nigeria's infranstratural projects and the enhancement of it's environmental needs as in any advance nation targeting the new millenium and the years ahead.

That N80b for Naija Diaspora

I had engaged a journalist friend of mine about what plans the Umar Yar'Adua's administration had lined up for Nigerians in Diaspora with expertise. A package of a whopping N80b, billions in any currency for sure, had been scheduled for a program to enable Diaspora Nigerians who would commit and provide efficient services to help reshape the country by way of Western standard, in other words, organized society with a thorough system is quite challenging.

According to the report;

"The money kept under the National Resources Fund (NRF) is meant for local capacity building, technology transfer, product standardisation to create overseas' market for Nigerian goods, among others.Ugwuh said that the government was keen on exporting manufactured goods to Germany to change the current situation where raw materials (mainly crude oil) are exported to Europe's biggest economy"

The question here is, how would a vulnereable Diaspora and a crooked citizenry achieve such a gigantic project? How is it possible for a nation corruption is baked in every gene?

Let's hope it works out, but as my friend would say "lai lai to lai lai, that one no go happen." Knowing what Nigerians are up to, he may be right. We'll see how it unfolds.
