OWERRI (DAILY INDEPENDENT)--Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chidi Ibe, has said that the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, has not made any positive impact in his Mbaise nation since l2 years he has been in the House of Representatives.
He also said the lawmaker, who has already won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in the state is not worthy to be a leader in his party (PDP).
Ibe disclosed this to newsmen in his office in Owerri while reacting to a media report credited to Ihedioha, (notSunday Independent) where he (Ihedioha) accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of poor performance.
“Let him first emerge winner, before we now look at his credentials for election”.
Ibe maintained that the people of Mbaise, where Ihedioha hails from, cannot point at a single project he executed with his money, as against the people-oriented free education programme executed by the governor through the Rochas Foundation College even before becoming governor of the state.
Ibe noted that before now, the people of the state were under what he termed a Napoleonist regime under the PDP, where only the children of the rich could go to school.
“One could hear the state government then say that it is not everybody that would go to school. But today, the State Rescue Mission of His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has proven them wrong,” he said.
Speaking further, Ibe queried: “What locus standi has he to say that free education is the right of Imolites, when since over l2 years he and his PDP has been in control, there was no community that could boast of acquiring free education in the state, not even his Mbutu community.
“It is therefore laughable to hear selfish politicians, who do not think about the good of others come out to speak against a Messiah who has done so much more to better the lots of its citizen”.
To further buttress his point, he said, “look at the many new roads in Owerri metropolis which had helped to ease traffic, imagine how Owerri would have been if these numerous roads were not created in Imo. We have a Government that is fully and passionately committed to improve health care delivery. Take a look at the Ochiedike Diagnostic and Dialysis centre, the Ultra Modern General Hospitals, the consolidated salary scheme for all cadre of health workers in Imo State. Where in Nigeria can you obtain this?
We have today witnessed an Allied Agro and industrial revolution in all ramifications, this State cannot remain the same again.
Now that the majority of Imo people are politically aware, we will not allow unscrupulous selfish politicians who has done absolutely nothing and has no home image to come up to deceive us again.
Imo State Government House is not on sale and it is only Owelle Rochas Okorocha that the good citizens have chosen to consolidate that good work which he began three years plus in the state, for the overall good of our darling state”.
