NIGERIA: Chevron Increases Global Fund Donations

Chevron Corporation has announced that it is going to commit US$ 5 million in addition to the usual donation over the next two years to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The fund works to target the prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) in Nigeria. This raises Chevron’s 8 year investment to the Global Fund to US$ 60 million. Chevron is now the largest private sector partner to the organisation.

Chevron became The Global Fund’s inaugural Corporation Champion in 2008, when it committed US$ 30 million to support AIDS, TB and malaria programs in Asia and Africa. In 2010 the company made an additional commitment of US$ 25 million to five HIV and AIDS and PMTCT in Angola, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam.
