Amaka by Nina Fabunmi

Latest work by San Francisco based artist Nina Fabunmi called Amaka and according to Fabunmi, "my journey as an artist has led me to seek within in order to find my truth in my artistic expressions. "Amaka" a name my mother gave me is of the Igbo Origins and means "this child is beautiful". I tried to capture that on canvas using portraiture, gesture and abstraction. Amaka won the  Bold Brush Painting Contest: Best of the Show, July 2013.
