At the historic Leimert Park "Black Township," banners and pamphlets were all over in advance for the 17th Annual Jazz Festival at Drew University in Los Angeles. It has become a tradition as Jazz at Drew has been one of Southland's most treasured musical event, taking a look at the line-up for this year's festival. The two day event (October 6-7) had a line-up of local jazz ensembles and some jazz greats.
Folks at the World Stage Performance Gallery, including the Leirmert Park All-Stars Band whose all session drum beat entertains the neigborhood every Sunday afternoon, performed to kick-off the two day event. Sponsored by Honda, the event was founded in 1991 with the lofty goal of promoting and training medical professionals who're underprivileged.
