FG Tasks TCN On Stable Power Supply, Warns Nigerians Against Vandalization

The Federal Government has urged the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to work hard to achieve stable power supply in the country while calling on Nigerians to always check the activities of vandals in order to fully utilize government infrastructure provided for their communities.

Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku who made the call when he led the Good Governance Tour team on an inspection of Benin-Onitsha transmission station noted that most power plants in the country are virtually ready but the challenge is the transmission of the generated power to Nigerians.
Maku stressed the need to take concrete steps to convey the additional power that have been generated to Nigerians to avoid waste. He noted that works are going on to stabilize power nationwide adding that government has invested heavily in power transmission infrastructure.
Explaining that the additional power plants when operational would help the country achieve tremendous improvement in power generation in the country, Maku stressed that government is ?mplement?ng every aspect of the power road map adding that with the private sector involvement in the power sector, the country would attain stability in power supply.
Earlier, Principal Manager Onitsha Works Centre Transmission Station, Engr Bakare Kassim, said that the third Benin-Onitsha line bay and the 2nd Benin-Onitsha line bay is the first of its kind in the country carrying five circuits at the same time and was conceived as a result of the problem we have with settlement of claims on right of way and to address the bottleneck.
Kassim observed that the project would help address the problem of collapse and incessant black out in the country. He stated that the transmission station has Multi-circle Tower that can take three number 330KV and two number 132KV lines adding that the project covers three states of Edo, Delta and Anambra but technically speaking, it is affecting the entire nation because what happens in one part of the grid, affects the other part of the grid.
