Federal Government redeems N400m pledge to Niger flood victims

The Niger state Government says it has taken delivery of the N25millions donated to the Madalla bomb victims by the Central Bank of Nigeria as the government announces the receipt of the N400m donated to flood victims in the state by the Federal Government.
The Director General of the Niger State Disaster Management Agency Mohammed Shaba told newsmen in Minna today that the donations which were recently posted into the account of the agency will be distributed to the victims soon.
Mohammed Shaba said the agency has begun the identification of all those that will benefit from the donations saying that before the end of the week all documentations will be made and the real victims will receive the assistance.
He said the delay in the release of the money to the victims was as a result of the increase in the number of local governments which initially was 16 but now increased to 20 which also affected the number of victims to benefit from the assistance.
Apart from the donations from the CBN and the Federal Government Shaba said that the Niger state government had on its own released N150m which has been given to the affected victims adding that the federal government has released assorted grains to be distributed to the flood victims.
