Washington - The former Angolan Planning minister, Ana Dias Lourenço (pictured) was appointed Monday by the President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to the country's seat at the Executive Council of the Bretton Woods Organisation (World Bank).
The ceremony took place at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, DC.
Ana Dias Lourenço was appointed to the post of Temporary Executive Director of 25th constituency, which integrate Angola, Nigeria and South Africa.
Ana Dias Lourenço at two-year term post replaces Mansur Muhtar, former Minister of Finance of Nigeria.
Founded in November 2010 in response to growth and economic weight of these three countries, this constituency had Renosi Mokate as its first Executive Director.
Until that date, these three countries were part of a constituency made up of 23 sub-Saharan countries.
The formal transfer ceremony of the post took place in Tokyo, Japan, at the end of the annual meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held from 8-13 October 2012.
Ana Dias Lourenço is graduate in Economics by Agostinho Neto University and has additional training in Management, Analysis and Project Evaluation.
She also held the post of Head of Investment Department of the Ministry of Planning, and senior official responsible for Development Programmes of the Province of Benguela.
Ana Dias was national director and coordinator of the Rehabilitation Projects of Infrastructure funded by the World Bank.
Between 1997 and 1999 the official served as deputy minister of Planning and was twice president of the Council of Ministers of SADC, when Angola assumed the chair of the regional organisation.
She was governor of Angola for the World Bank and national coordinator of EDF funds.
