NIGERIA: Former Police Inspector General, Ehindero, and Former Police Commissioner Obaniyi Charged and Granted Bail




Former Inspector General of Police, Sunday Ehindero (R) and former police commissioner in charge of budget, John Obaniyi, (not shown) were on Friday, September 21, 2012 remanded in custody at the court sitting in Abuja on charges leveled against them by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission. Both have been accused of embezzling the sum of N300 million out of N557 million donated to the Nigerian Police Force by the Bayelsa State Government during President Goodluck Jonathan's tenure as governor. Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi who handled the case placed bail in the amount of N10 million on each of the accused and a collateral of the same amount.
